Auchenfin Trout and coarse fishery project looks to bring affordable fishing to those in the East Kilbride and residing areas. The fishery has aims to provide both coarse and trout fishing to the local and visiting anglers. A first for East Kilbride. it is set to be made in a rolling valley that is tree lined and has three clear feeder burns running through it.
Participating in the Auchenfin fishery project will develop people who have difficulty interacting with those around them through a common interest. Fishing. It will benefit educationally through their growing understanding of nature and learning from others.
Auchenfin trout fishery will also cater for the lady fly or bait angler. There is now an increase in the popularity in women’s fly-fishing and there is a Scotland international women fly fishing team who represent our country in international events. In angling; race, religion and sex simply do not matter.
We aim to stock with Trout ranging from 2lb- double figure specimens and all assortment's of different species; rainbow trout,blue trout, golden trout, brown trout, tiger trout, brook trout and Grayling
In the coarse pond we aim to stock with:
Golden tench and orfe, blue orfe, common carp, crucian carp, chub, stillwater barbel, ghost carp, grass carp, koi carp, mirror carp, roach, rudd and bream( crosses i.e roachbream hybrids will occur naturally)
